Chlamydia screening is essential because most cisgender women and persons assigned female at birth who have the condition do not experience symptoms. The main objective of chlamydia screening is to prevent pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility and ectopic pregnancy, all of which have very high rates of occurrence among cisgender women and persons assigned female at birth with untreated chlamydia infection <sup><a href=\"#ref-1\">1<\/a><\/sup>.
